Sigma Synthetic Kabuki Kit

I’ve beenslowlybuilding my brushes, partly from the experience that a good brush makes a difference in make-up application—regardless if the make-up is inexpensive or not. I don’t care much for eye make-up but setting my face make-up during my regular work week is a MUST therefore I wanted to invest on a good set of brushes for my foundation, BB cream, and concealer.

Anyway, I’ve heard good things about the Sigma synthetic brushes. Owning the essential kit myself I know the brand carries nice brushes. I decided to purchase their Synthetic Kabuki kit. Been using it for a couple of months now hence the review.

Maybelline Color Tattoo Swatches

Tough as Taupe and Bad to the Bronze swatches for you!

Been using these products for the past week and liking them so far. Of course it doesn’t last 24 hours… Even so that I have extra dry eyes which leads to tearing up all the time. I’ve worn both products with and without a primer and I prefer using a primer. However if I use this as a shadow base and use a neutral powder eyeshadow it works really great too (I paired this with the Chai Latte palette from Maybelline).

Recent Drugstore Haul

I went to the drugstore earlier to get one product and found out that a.) the other shade I wanted is available, and b.) a new cute product is available and on sale! Crazy.

I got Maybelline products mostly—two jars of the 24 Hr Color Tattoo in 25 Bad to the Bronze and 35 Tough as Taupe. I also got their new blush line — Dream Bouncy Blush and they’re really compact and cute. The blush claims to be “lightweight like a powder yet melts into skin like a cream.” Hmm.

Got the eyeshadow for $9.99 CDN a pop, and the blush for $7.99 CDN (regular retail price is $10-something).

More Revlon Color Burst Lip Butters

Because I’m crazy and I definitely liking these! I talked about the Lip Butters awhile back, and scored two more tubes when I went to the grocery (they are selling these for $3 less the drugstore price!)

I decided to get a darker red color (Red Velvet) which comes out really dark on the container but not on the lips. Berry Smoothie is the most neutral color I have out of this product line and it’s coming out pretty sheer and close to my natural lip color, so I usually layer this on (at most 3 applications) to make the shade pop. :)

Swatches from L-R: Lollipop, Red Velvet, Cherry Tart and Berry Smoothie :)

Over the holidays my friend/fashion blogger S gave me this as a holiday gift: a 3-tiered lipstick organizer! It can fit in 24 tubes of lipstick. Love it.
Sadly it didn’t fit ALL of my lipsticks so some still ended on my plastic drawer but man, this is lovely. They’re now organized by color and it’s easy to pick the shade I’m looking for, depending on my mood for the day. :)
Not sure where S got it but I found some one on Amazon except that it is not on an incline position.

Revlon Colorburst Lip Butters

After hearing so much from my friend about the new Revlon Lip Butter, I decided to finally give it a try — not until I find the shades that I like! It seems like drugstores and groceries here are only carrying certain number of shades. Didn’t help that these products sold out so fast.

Didn’t go too crazy this time and got myself two colors: Lollipop (far left) and Cherry Tart (middle). The shade on the far right is for my sister. I decided to get brighter colors because I have lots of nude/neutral shades of pinks and mauves in my lipstick collection and it would be worth the price to get something bright and something I don’t have a lot of shades in.

Some notes I wanted to make after a couple of weeks trying it: it is very moisturizing, very pigmented but does not last long (because of the moisturizing formula). I did find the colors selection to be good but it’s hard to determine their actual shade as opposed to what shows on the tube.

For a drugstore item this tends to be a bit expensive. The case gives a nice “click” sound when shut so I find that the product will be secure inside, however the bottom part (the black one with the brand name) cracks easily. :(

I’m looking forward to try on new shades but I guess here in Canada I have to wait longer for the stores to re-stock with the rest of the colors. Noticed that Lollipop, Creme Brulee and Berry Smoothie are the most common colors available for purchase.

Victoria’s Secret Perfect Lipstick in Wish

Finally get the chance to use my Victoria’s Secret Perfect Lipstick in Wish. I got this when I went to the US last summer and fell in love with this color! Seeing that it’s a nice shade of pink I waited until fall to try the shade out.

Unfortunately, the color looks too sheer and light on me. It actually looks pinkish nude and it washed the color away from my face. I figured that this is actually good if I wanted to do an intense eye make-up. But I’m the type of person who does more of bolder lip color because my eyes are just watery.

It doesn’t stay as long but I use a lipcote on top of the make-up to make it last longer. :)

Missha Signature BB Cream and BB Boomer

Hello! Sorry for the late update, a lot of things have been going on. In addition, I’ve been taking my time and trying on the products that have accumulated for the past months.

(Also I haven’t been putting on a lot of make-up and now I’m convincing myself that, hey it’s winter already! Time to put make-up on!)

Anyway.

I went to Toronto last month and passed by Koreatown. I wasn’t so sure which of the stores there actually carry skin care and cosmetics. My friends and I passed by a mom-and-pop/grocery and found that they’re selling Beauty Credit and Missha products (not a lot actually).

They do have the Missha Signature BB Cream and decided to try it out. The cashier said the BB Boomer comes along with the purchase, which I think is an absolute steal.

Estee Lauder Double-Wear Cremeshadow

As part of my Cosmetic Company Store’s haul I bought myself an Estee Lauder Double Wear Cremeshadow in Pink Amethyst.

I was really skeptical about its claim (will lasts for 15 hours) since, as mentioned, I have oily skin. Even if I wear my primer, at the end of the day my eyeshadow is gone.

But this one works. It’s crazy. I have a 12-15hrs work day (including the travel time) and this stays put. I put on my primer first and then put this on. The shadow’s creamy texture neutralizes when I put on after the primer which I think helps in making it stay longer.

Definitely a holy grail product for me.
